Claw Foot Tubs

I don't know about you, but I love a soak in the bath, with my favourite Jo Malone bath oils. One day I would love a gorgeous claw foot tub. Here are some great images of the classic bath in both contemporary and traditional interiors.

Love the ceiling in this photo above - what amazing pressed metal cornices and ceiling panels.

I love Chinoiserie designs and there are none better in wallpapers, than the gorgeous, expensive de Gournay hand paints wallpapers. de Gournay has traditionally specialised in 18th century Chinoiserie and 19th century French designs.
One day...... I can dream

Lizzo Collection

Lizzo is a spanish fabric house and today I saw their new collection.
Luxurious velvets, silks and linens made up the collection with the inspiration drawn from the following sources:

Ducale: Venetian art of the XV century, a period of grand splendour in the city, was what inspired us to create this collection.

Provenza: For the creation of this collection we were inspired by the French Provence, surrounded by floral patterns and sun-bleached pastel tones.

Here are a couple of images of the collection.

Book - In the Pink by Carleton Varney

Dorothy Draper is a famous American decorator. Like Martha Stewart, Draper was a preacher and teacher whose how-to books and Good Housekeeping columns provided middle-class housewives with affordable ideas for making their homes more functional and comfortable. Thanks to her originality as a stylist and her daring as a businesswoman, she became one of the most respected career women in the United States. She shocked the design world in 1937 when she decorated the thirty-seven-story Hampshire House apartment hotel on Central Park South in New York City, delivering a project that became indicative of her signature touch "baroque fantasy."

In the Pink: Dorothy Draper, America's Most Fabulous Decorator, by Carleton Varney is a great book. Varney, who is uniquely positioned as the author of this book, joined the Dorothy Draper, Inc. in 1960, when he was twenty-nine years old. Forty-two years later, he continues to keep her legend alive.

David Hicks

I love the geometric patterns created by 60's English designer, David Hicks. David is deceased, however his son, Ashley Hicks, continues the tradition by designing fabrics with graphic style and powerful colour sense with a gentler and more usable contemporary style. Below are some image from one of his designs called LA FIORENTINA.

Garden Inspiration

I came across images of this beautiful garden at a property called Ercildoune, near Ballarat in Victoria and thought of my mum. She is a keen gardener and has been developing her garden in the country (Gippsland) for several years.

Ercildoune’s centrepiece is a two-storey granite mansion surrounded by six hectares of formal grounds studded with grand trees that provide a breathtaking backdrop to the gardens, which include sweeping lawns, huge garden beds, wooded dells, fruit trees and an inner walled garden that was built in the 1870s and filled with roses.

I love the house (who wouldn't) and the garden is stunning. See the full story about Ercildourne's restoration at: http://www.houseandgarden.com.au/true-romance-victorian-goldfields-garden.htm
