Osborne & Little Collection

Last night I went to a presentation of the latest Osborne and Little collection. It was presented by Maria Santacaterina, who is the Export Sales Director for O&L in the UK. Here are a couple of images of the highlights from the Nina Campbell collection called Sylvana and the O&L Collection Colombina.

Over the last three years I have seen Maria present the O&L Collections annually and I also had the amazing opportunity to see Nina Campbell present her collection personally over coffee and petit fours. She was inspiring and it was wonderful to hear her talk about the intial inspiration and the story behind her designs.

Cup Carnival

One cannot help but be inspired by the Melbourne Cup carnival...the fashion, hats, roses and the horses. My latest window display @ A Blind Pash Interiors has been insipred by the cup. A couple of Nina Campbell fabrics, including this stunning silk stripe in the colours of jockey silks, is complemented by a vase of roses from my garden.

Suzani fabrics

Part of my job as a designer is to see new fabric collections as they become available. In the last couple of collections, coming out of Europe, I have noticed the influence of Suzani's. The bold patterns and rich colours of the designs are clearly influneced by these traditional handmade crafts. Suzani's are typically silk embroidery on a cotton or silk background usually from Uzbekistan and were created as dowry objects. Here are some examples suzani and suzani inspired fabrics and how they can be used.....
