Collections 2012 - Andrew Martin

Got to see the latest Andrew Martin collection called Compass yesterday. It follows on from the sucessful collection last year and includes fabrics and wallpapers. There are two books, Compass - South and Compass - North and the ethnic influence is clear.

There are some great quiky wallpapers again - stacked trucks, ends of logs and shutters, some of which are pictured above.

Dining with friends

Caught up with some friends last night and had a delightful dinner @ Golden Fields in St Kilda.
Head Chef - Andrew Mcconnell (Cutler and Co / Cumulus Inc) creates fab asian focused share dishes and it doesn't disappoint. The food was amazing, we enjoyed soft shell crab, duck, prawns and leather jacket and the best roast leg of lamb ever. We finished off with a peanut parfait and its was a very pleasant evening. Here are some shots of the interior.

Happy Australia Day

Happy Australia Day.
As well as being a celebrating the national day of Australia, its also my wedding anniversary. This year it was the big 20. We celebrated with a wonderful lunch at Bistro Guillaume, very delicious french cuisine and headed down to Mornington to catch up with family and enjoy the fireworks over the water, from the beach as the sun set.
Great interiors using black, white and this amazing green, with a fabulous wallpaper that looks like corrigrated iron, creates a french bistro feel.

French Inspiration

I had this image saved on my computer and I love it.
Firstly the room is great, with the delicate plaster details on the walls and ceiling and a classic parquetry floor - classic french.
The blue and mauve velvet french furniture is given a pop of colour rug the floral rug as do the cushions, creating and inviting (certainly not stuffy) interior.

Chevron - pattern for 2011?

Looking back over 2o11, its seems that the Chevron pattern was a major player in the design world.....
Here are some examples - fabric, rugs, stationary - all covered in Chevron, small scale to larger, creating fun elements.... The chevron doesn't take itself to seriously.
