Passementerie

I was cleaning out some files from my Uni days at home last night and came across a file for Soft Furnishings. It contained lots of images I collected while studying and below are some favourites relating to Passementerie (the fancy name for trims). Hope you like them.

Art by Annechovie

I recently purchased some fab chair prints on Etsy from Annechovie, which I had seen featured on several design blogs. Anne's work has also appeared in movies, most recently in "It's complicated" with Meryl Streep, great company indeed. Here are some images of the prints framed and hanging in my shop.

Please check out Anne's work on her blog http://www.annechovie.blogspot.com and her Etsy store http://www.annechovie.etsy.com

In the window

I just changed over the window display to showcase some great fabrics from a couple of years ago. The french style chair is covered in Osborne & Little Stanza, with a beautiful Liberty cushion with woven fans and great beaded trim detail. The drop is Nina Campbell Perroquets, which I love, its pretty and very feminine.

Lest we forget

They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Crown Metropol Hotel

The Crown Metropol Hotel has just opened and here are some images of the rooms. Great use of the cushions from Margo Selby which I have feature previoulsy on my blog.

The hotel also includes the new Gordon Ramsey restaurant, Maze. The interior looks interesting and I love the light fittings.....time will tell what the food is like.

Fern fabrics

I was watching a show on the Lifestyle channel (according to my husband, thats all I watch) and I saw a designer using a fern fabric. An english classic and here are some images of it in use....

Not sure I could live in a room covered in ferns but I love the chairs.....

Re-upholstery

While on the subject of rejuvenating your existing furniture pieces, here is another image from Lonny. The sofa belongs to Laura Day - Laura Day Living and she upholstered the back of the sofa in a stunning (one of my favourites) Manuel Canovas Chinoiserie fabric. I love it....

Advertising

I came across this ad in the latest Lonny magazine and I thought it was great.
Its an advertisement for Chairloom.com - an American based company that offers a recovery / re-upholstery service. Their motto is "reuse and reinvent” and I agree wholeheartedly

Designers Guild - New Collection

Have just seen the new Designers Guild collection - Pavillion. Some great designs and a much more muted palette than is often used by Tricia Guild. Below are some of the fabrics:

Imperial Trellis

Imperial Trellis, designer by Kelly Wearstler, has quickly become one of the most well known and used designs I have seen in along time. From the original fabric and wallaper, the design has now inspired stationary and great clipboards....here are some images of the fab design.
