Andrew Martin Fabrics

Andrew Martin can always be relied upon for some quirky and interesting fabrics and the latest collection is no exception. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Fante Flags - sold as a panel x 2.6 metres and is hand appliquéd. Great as cushions as pictured but would also be great in a boys bedroom as art or bedding.

Concourse
Picture Show - aslo sold as a panel of 9 images

Rules to live by

As I sit here doing too many things at once..... I recall this image I saved with rules of "How to work better" and thought it was worth putting these 10 rules in front on me. The image comes from the Parisian apartment of Cleo Charuet, how has an eclectic interior with lots of taxidermy and is a film maker and graphic designer.

Working on

Working on a beautiful scheme, using a stunning Etamine embroidered silk and a Jab striped silk - shades of pink, green and orange. I love it.

Will update progress as the finished items arrive back to me. I have an afternoon of curtain and blind installations, so I will take my leave
Have a good weekend.

Alannah Hill

Earlier in the year, Alannah Hill sold her apartment. I was looking through my file of images today and came across some photo's I had saved. A couple of my clients went along to the open house to have a look. I'm a fan of Alannah's clothes, especially the fun prints she uses (even as lining) and how she puts together colour. As you would expect the interior of her apartment was no different. I wish I had gotten along to see it in person, put here are the images I saved.

Beatuful pieces of furniture, great fabrics and wonderful rugs and lighting. Plus lots of shades of pink.....

Love this bathroom

Stunning curtains and look at the hot pink kitchen.

Murabond and Society Inc

Murabond have teamed up with Society Inc to develop a range of colour palettes which are amazing. Check out Sibella Court's (Society Inc.) book Etcetera, for more ideas on how to use these paint colours. The latest theme is called North by Northwest - insipred by the exploration, high seas and strong winds. I love the rich reds and blues, very nautical.....

For more details on this theme go to, http://www.thesocietyinc.com.au/NBYNW.html and be inspired..... even the website design is fabulous.

Neisha Crosland

Thought I would feature some fabrics and when I popped into Mokum this morning, the Neisha Crosland collection caught my eye.

Neisha Crosland initially studied graphic design at Camberwell School of Art. She fell in love with bold, modern looking 16th Century Ottoman Empire textiles, and she transferred to the textile course. Her 1986 post-graduate show at the Royal College of Art was applauded, and went on to form a collection for Osborne & Little. The desire to develop her own designs into finished products prompted Neisha to launch her own-label textiles and accessories in 1994.

Neisha Crosland is distributed in Australia by Mokum. See the full range of fabrics : http://www.neishacrosland.com/main.html

Tree house......

I'm currently working on my website and needed a break. I came across this image on the internet and thought it was wonderful and whimsical.

The tree mural with the addition of the birdcages is amazing. I love the bright fresh bedding as well.

Kitchen Makeover

I hope you enjoyed the long weekend (those in Australia anyway)..... I spent the weekend working on a makeover of my sister-in-laws kitchen.....

Banishing the old pine cabinets, we sanded, undercoated and sprayed the top coats over the past two weekends. Lots of hardwork but it is looking great. I will get some photo's during the week and post them.....forgot to take the before images which was rather silly.

Anyway, I will pay hommage to the kitchen, with some inspiration images I had on file, all with a touch of white.

X-Bench

Its been a busy week and my blogging has suffered.

The X-bench seems to be making a comeback. Its been popping up in a number of magazines so here are some images of the X-bench, which can be covered in any fabric.

I think they are great and offer opportunity to have some fun with wonderful fabrics.

Lulu and Nat

Lulu and Nat are driven by colour and inspired by India, Mumbai-based Lulu McEvoy and London-based Nat Robinson launched Lulu & Nat, a home and lifestyle range for adults and children.

Handcrafted and made in India using traditional techniques, each piece is completely unique and nothing is mass-produced. The result is a beautiful selection of hand-printed bedlinen, embroidered wall hangings and embellished cushions - all in Lulu & Nat's signature Anglo-Indian style.

I love there use of colour and the beautiful designs. The story behind them is also great, any one with a passion making handcrafted items should encouraged....

Ebay Treasures

I was trawling through Ebay and came across this gorgeous french bed from Reims in France. Bidding started at $0.99 and so I made a couple of bids, only to later be outbid at just over the $100.00 mark. I thought that waiting until closer to the end before making another bid would be a good strategy. So I had a look this morning and imagine my suprise, when with 7 hours to go, the latest bid was $1009.00 AUD. Not the bargain I was hoping for.......

I look forward to seeing what the final price will be but for now, I will have to keep dreaming.......
