Indigo - Aboubakar Fofana

 

Last week, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Aboubakar Fofana @ Hermon and Hermon. The evening was hosted by Neale Whitaker and was a Q&A regarding Aboubakar's lifework, Indigo dyeing.

It was fascinating and inspirational.

 

Mali born and based, indigo artist Aboubakar Fofana is on a quest to preserve and restore his native country’s once popular art of indigo and vegetable dyeing. Driven by a passion to maintain his country’s cultural heritage, Fofana travels the globe teaching his craft and showing his pieces of contemporary art created using ancient techniques.

 

 

New Collections

Lucky its school holidays and quieter, so I was able to spend the day seeing new fabric collections.

1. Warwick
Started the morning with a breakfast presentation by Cameron Warwick, showcasing they latest releases. Some great value product and some exciting prints with an oriental theme coming through.

 

2. Elliott Clarke - Designs of the Times
A collection of linens from Belgium, with a tribal influence , except my favourite, this floral and paisley combination

3. Ascraft Textiles
Selection of new releases over a couple of brands with some highlights, pink and orange combinations by John Robshaw and new designs by Lisa Fine

Finished the day with the new Romo collection, but I leave that until tomorrow.

Schumacher - design collaboration

I just saw the new Schumacher designer collaboration, with Alessandra Branca and I love it.

Born in Rome, Alessandra draws inspiration from the finest classical art and architecture, while using her sense of comfortable elegance and wit to revolutionize traditional patterns for a modern point of view.

Dramatic scale, playful textures, and a vibrant colour palette add a burst of energy making the fondly familiar damask, toile and Chinoiserie patterns fresh and exciting.

 

Can't wait to get my hands on the sampling....

New Window Display

 

 

Just changed over the window display to this stunning drop from Equipo and we have teamed it with 3 Martyn Lawrence Bullard cushions in jewel tones. The sun even came out to play!!

Loving the kids collection designed by Sparkk. Great price point, we can custom colour and choose the basecloth. What more can we want to design some stunning, indiviual kids rooms?

Latest Window Display

Window display updated today, by the lovely Jordy an RMIT fashion and textile design student as part of a project.

Using a fabulous GP&J Baker print and wallpaper and lovely accessories from Cromwell Austalia - all available from A Blind Pash of course.

Mary McDonald for Schumacher

Had the chance to see the Schumacher collection designed by Mary McDonald, of Million Dollar Decorators, fame, shown on Foxtel here in Australia.

Love the collection, very classic and soft colours but some dramatic elements as well. The collection blends Mary's love of Chinoiserie, color and bold patterns. Traditional textile designs are reinterpreted in a clean and graphic style and bring a strong sense of glamour.

Kravet - Jonathan Adler

Saw a great new collatoration with Kravet and US designer Jonathan Adler yesterday. The collection reflects Adler’s colorful approach to design with linen and velvet featuring bright colors, modernist forms, bold graphic patterns and embroidery. Geometric, abstract and contemporary linear patterns, in a range of both vivid colors and neutrals. I'm not saying I could live with a room designed top to toe in these prints but as accents they are fabulous....

Harlequin Designs

I was out sourcing at fabric houses this morning and had to snap this amazing chair on display @ Domestic Textiles. From the lastest Harlequin range, it looks amazing and is super comfy....great wallpaper in the background and the lampshade is the same shade as the bedside lamps by Mum has when I was young....

Outdoor scheming

There is an amzing range of outdoor fabrics available these days. The feel like real fabrics, great textures and weaves as well as prints and have come along way from the old canvas fabrics that used to be available.
Made to be sun fast and washable, there is no better way to refresh your outdoor entertaining areas before the summer months.

My Friday afternoon treat was too see the lastest Jane Churchill collection, with its fresh prints and wallpapers with classic basic checks, stripes and florals.. Great colour palette and some fun designs....

John Robshaw for Duralee

Boy, another busy week, the days are flying bye. Got to see the latest Duralee collection yesterday, by textile designer John Robshaw. John is know for his stunning hand blocked prints and this is his first collection of weaves, as well as great prints.
