Eaglemont - Cabinetry Install begins

The cabinetry installation has started on my Eaglemont project. Front the raw units in the factory a couple of weeks ago, the cabinets have been off for 2-pac painting and the family room was full this morning when I popped onsite.

Later in the day, the installation was underway and progressing well. Client is very happy and its looking great. Templates of the stone tops are next and bulkheads over the units to finish off, before the cornice is installed.

I will keep you updated on the progress.

Schumacher - design collaboration

I just saw the new Schumacher designer collaboration, with Alessandra Branca and I love it.

Born in Rome, Alessandra draws inspiration from the finest classical art and architecture, while using her sense of comfortable elegance and wit to revolutionize traditional patterns for a modern point of view.

Dramatic scale, playful textures, and a vibrant colour palette add a burst of energy making the fondly familiar damask, toile and Chinoiserie patterns fresh and exciting.

Can't wait to get my hands on the sampling....

Mary McDonald for Schumacher

Had the chance to see the Schumacher collection designed by Mary McDonald, of Million Dollar Decorators, fame, shown on Foxtel here in Australia.

Love the collection, very classic and soft colours but some dramatic elements as well. The collection blends Mary's love of Chinoiserie, color and bold patterns. Traditional textile designs are reinterpreted in a clean and graphic style and bring a strong sense of glamour.

Greg Natale is the latest designer  to collaborate with Porter Paints on a range of wallpapers.

The designs are in his signature bold style - Chervon, Diagonal, Horizontal and Pinstripe make up the collection in a usable palette.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to meet , the charming Martyn Lawrence Bullard yesterday, as he talked about him latest fabric collection and its inspiration at Tigger Hall. I was very excited and Martyn took time to sign his book and have a chat with everyone. Martyn appears on the TV show - Million Dollar Decorators and has done interiors for the Osborne's, Cher and Elton John to name a few.

Martyn has developed a range of stunning hand blocked fabrics, with inspiration drawn from his travels - exotic locations such as Morocco, Turkey and India. He has recently developed a range of fragrances and series 2 of Million Dollar Decorator is being filmed now... He was delightful and very charismatic and it was wonderful to hear about his inspiration.

American Design

Here is some work by American Designer - Eileen Kathryn Boyd, recently featured in the Hampton's Designer Showcase. Eileen's mantra is that "Color has the ability to change someone’s entire world, freeing them from all that is dull" and I have to agree. Eileen's use of colour in these interiors is subtle and harmonious. Its always good to see whats going on in the world.

The delightful William Yeoward

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting William Yeoward and see him present his latest collection for an intimate group of designers. He was absolutely lovely, had a great sense of humor and his latest collection of hand woven fabrics "or 100 stripes" as he called it was great. He gave us an in sight into his life by showing a slide show of his home in the Cotswold's and his apartment in London, both of which are featured in his latest book - William Yeoward At Home. His homes are an eclectic mix of fabrics, art and collections....he loves to shop......

His latest fabric collection called Polperro inspired by William's upbrining - being raised by the sea, sailing and fishing - helped him create a collection of woven stripes, prints and wallpapers that reflect the England that he loves.

Ann Grafton

I had the honour of attending a presentation of the new GP&J Baker collections, including, Baker, Threads, Baker Lifestyle and Mulberry brands yesterday. The collections were presented by Ann Grafton, who is the Managing Director and Head of Design at GP&J Baker UK. Ann is a textile designer with over 20 year experience, who before joining Baker (about 6 years ago)was the creative director of Colefax & Fowler.

Amazing fabric presentation blankets

Mulberry's iconic design, Flying Ducks

Ann provided some great insights into the stories behind the fabric designs and told us how she developed the Threads brand, creating 350 fabrics over a two year period, to fill a gap in the market for gorgeous textures and decorative designs, in a more comptemporary design and palette, compared to the rest of the Baker range.

Thanks to Nerida and the team at Elliott Clarke for a great inspirational afternoon with Ann.

Andrew Martin Fabrics

Andrew Martin can always be relied upon for some quirky and interesting fabrics and the latest collection is no exception. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Fante Flags - sold as a panel x 2.6 metres and is hand appliquéd. Great as cushions as pictured but would also be great in a boys bedroom as art or bedding.

Concourse
Picture Show - aslo sold as a panel of 9 images

Rules to live by

As I sit here doing too many things at once..... I recall this image I saved with rules of "How to work better" and thought it was worth putting these 10 rules in front on me. The image comes from the Parisian apartment of Cleo Charuet, how has an eclectic interior with lots of taxidermy and is a film maker and graphic designer.

Alannah Hill

Earlier in the year, Alannah Hill sold her apartment. I was looking through my file of images today and came across some photo's I had saved. A couple of my clients went along to the open house to have a look. I'm a fan of Alannah's clothes, especially the fun prints she uses (even as lining) and how she puts together colour. As you would expect the interior of her apartment was no different. I wish I had gotten along to see it in person, put here are the images I saved.

Beatuful pieces of furniture, great fabrics and wonderful rugs and lighting. Plus lots of shades of pink.....

Love this bathroom

Stunning curtains and look at the hot pink kitchen.

Neisha Crosland

Thought I would feature some fabrics and when I popped into Mokum this morning, the Neisha Crosland collection caught my eye.

Neisha Crosland initially studied graphic design at Camberwell School of Art. She fell in love with bold, modern looking 16th Century Ottoman Empire textiles, and she transferred to the textile course. Her 1986 post-graduate show at the Royal College of Art was applauded, and went on to form a collection for Osborne & Little. The desire to develop her own designs into finished products prompted Neisha to launch her own-label textiles and accessories in 1994.

Neisha Crosland is distributed in Australia by Mokum. See the full range of fabrics : http://www.neishacrosland.com/main.html
