Dulux Colour Forecast - 2014

Retro Visionaries

Influenced by styles of the late 20th century, when digital culture was first emerging and still being shaped by icons of the 50s, The Retro Visionaries aesthetic is quirky, colourful and energetic.

The Digital Nomads

A global fusion of tribal aesthetics derived from clashing cultures and resulting in juxtaposed colours form digital patterns and eclectic interiors. The Digital Nomad creates a style where traditional boundaries are no longer defined.

Precious Elementals

The Precious Elementals innately respect and revere our earth's natural resources, elements and geometric forms. They are inspired by its colours and shapes and interpret them to create beautiful compositions within their interiors. Mineral and metal colours modernise pastels and soft greys, while patinas and raw finishes reflect nature's weathering effects.

The Romantic Spirits

Romanticising decorative periods of history, The Romantic Spirits search for ways to incorporate nostalgia and antiquities into their technologically-dominated world. They are attracted to modern design that reveals elements of romance from simple embellishments or flourishes resembling calligraphy strokes, to skilfully turned timber forms with a modern twist. Finishes that capture history such as patinas and worn looks are favoured to contrast against moody colour.

WE ARE MOVING!

Sorry for the lack of posts...that time of the year.
On top of that we are moving!!!!

After 11 plus years in our current location, A Blind Pash Interiors is on the move!

With my current building scheduled for redevelopment, it seemed opportune to make the move to a new studio, in a busier location.  From the 2nd December 2013, we will be located at:

415 Hampton Street

Hampton VIC 3188

These premises were previously occupied for the last 18 years by Alexandra Keys – Interior Decorators and another decorator prior to that, so I’m excited to continue the tradition.

I have taken on Alexandra’s fabric and wallpaper sampling, so I will have a very extensive, fabric library. Alexandra is moving to Tasmania to have a life change, so it was the perfect opportunity for A Blind Pash Interiors. Our new details are:

 Address:         415 Hampton Street

  Hampton VIC 3188

Phone:                        03 9521 8291                 Fax:                  03 9521 8291

Mobile:           0425 722 948

I look forward to welcoming you to the new studio and continuing to work with you in 2014.

With best wishes

Indigo - Aboubakar Fofana

Last week, I had the pleasure of being introduced to Aboubakar Fofana @ Hermon and Hermon. The evening was hosted by Neale Whitaker and was a Q&A regarding Aboubakar's lifework, Indigo dyeing.
It was fascinating and inspirational.

Mali born and based, indigo artist Aboubakar Fofana is on a quest to preserve and restore his native country’s once popular art of indigo and vegetable dyeing. Driven by a passion to maintain his country’s cultural heritage, Fofana travels the globe teaching his craft and showing his pieces of contemporary art created using ancient techniques.

Metropolis @ Mokum

Last night was the Melbourne launch of the latest collection from Mokum, designed by Catherine Martin.

Called Metropolis and born while she was researching the Deco period for The Great Gatsby, and is Martin’s second collection with Mokum,

Metropolis captures not only the rich decorative nature of Art Deco but also its geometric modernism with two luxurious velvets, Charleston Pearls which were all fashionable in the Deco period.

The collection is made complete with five sumptuous coordinating wallpapers utilizing diverse printing techniques and multiple substrates. These include metallic inks and foil alongside textured surface prints, printed onto both paper and non-woven substrates, capturing this luxurious and spirited era.
Here are some snap's I took last night.

Eaglemont - Cabinetry Install begins

The cabinetry installation has started on my Eaglemont project. Front the raw units in the factory a couple of weeks ago, the cabinets have been off for 2-pac painting and the family room was full this morning when I popped onsite.

Later in the day, the installation was underway and progressing well. Client is very happy and its looking great. Templates of the stone tops are next and bulkheads over the units to finish off, before the cornice is installed.

I will keep you updated on the progress.

Lucky its school holidays and quieter, so I was able to spend the day seeing new fabric collections.

A collection of linens from Belgium, with a tribal influence , except my favourite, this floral and paisley combination

3. Ascraft Textiles

Finished the day with the new Romo collection, but I leave that until tomorrow.

Custom Made Furniture

Love this design by a local furniture manufacturer.

Taking inspiration from mid century American and Scandinavian designs/designers of the period it is on trend with the current retro inspired furniture. It would sit perfectly within the homes of Modern Australia and is scaled for apartment living allowing maximum seating room.

Schumacher - design collaboration

I just saw the new Schumacher designer collaboration, with Alessandra Branca and I love it.

Born in Rome, Alessandra draws inspiration from the finest classical art and architecture, while using her sense of comfortable elegance and wit to revolutionize traditional patterns for a modern point of view.

Dramatic scale, playful textures, and a vibrant colour palette add a burst of energy making the fondly familiar damask, toile and Chinoiserie patterns fresh and exciting.

Can't wait to get my hands on the sampling....
