Inspiration Board

 

Here is a snippet of my inspiration board, it sits just inside my door and includes visual images, fabrics and trims that I love. Its updated with new fabrics as they arrive and gives a little colour POP! 

Schumacher - design collaboration

I just saw the new Schumacher designer collaboration, with Alessandra Branca and I love it.

Born in Rome, Alessandra draws inspiration from the finest classical art and architecture, while using her sense of comfortable elegance and wit to revolutionize traditional patterns for a modern point of view.

Dramatic scale, playful textures, and a vibrant colour palette add a burst of energy making the fondly familiar damask, toile and Chinoiserie patterns fresh and exciting.

 

Can't wait to get my hands on the sampling....

My work - styling

Some time ago, I worked in QLD on a project for the advertising creative on the Oracle Apartments.

We had to select furniture, accessories and art - style 5 apartments ranging from a 1 bedroom to a 4 bed sky home (featured on this video) ...to the penthouse apartment, all in 5 days...

There were amazing photo's by Earl Carter and video's produced all to help sell the apartments. This program was successful and below is a great video, showcasing the work we did.

Stylish tiles

Love these Hexagonal tiles called Hexitile - available in 20 colours with either a gloss or matt finish.

 

They are fun and its great that you can be as creative as you want or use them in classic designs to look more traditional, as these images show....

 

 

Adelaide

I popped over to Adelaide for the weekend with the rest of the family.
My 10 year old niece was selected to perform in the Australian Youth Ballet of "Mary Poppins".

All 5 shows were 100% sold, and Jess held us well, given she must have been exhausted. Months of rehearsing and finally we go to see the show, it as great and wonderful to see an audience full of kids having a great time as well as proud relatives...

While in Adelaide, we pop down to McLaren vale and managed to sample and purchase plenty of wine.... great weather both days and it was a fun visit, all be it a quick one.

 

 

 

Back to Melbourne and work!!!

The art of stacking

I have mentioned before on my blog, that I love books and here are some great examples of integrating them into your interior.

 

 A perfectly proportioned pile of books can complement the layered vignette on a  dresser.

Add a floral touch with flowers placed on a crisp tower of books

Coffee table books needn't be relegated to only your coffee table, arrange them on a low-lying ottoman for a rich, textured effect.

 

Stack hefty books on a table in your living room making a great pedestal to highlight favourite objects.

Schumacher Wallpapers - Martyn Lawrence Bullard

Martyn Lawrence Bullard, of Million Dollar Decorators fame, is releasing a new collection  of wallpapers as a desginer collaboration.

Building on the success of his fabric collection, the internationally celebrity designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard introduces a collection of wallcoverings exclusively for Schumacher.

Inspired by his travels the collection bursting with bold, saturated colors and gorgeous, artful patterns. Prints in the collection evoke the timeless Ottoman motifs that Martyn witnessed in the graphic screens, painted panels and embellished tile decorating the majestic palaces of Turkey, Morocco and India.
